How Does hototin.com Work?

Hototin claims to sell top quality products at very affordable rates on their online store, but should you trust them? In the course of our research, we noticed that the affordability of their products serves as bait to attract unsuspecting buyers. This is common among scam online stores.

Hototin.com uses a very neat and well-designed website layout, giving it a convincing feel. But this should not deceive you into believing Hototin.com is legit because most of these scam online stores go the extra mile to appear trustworthy.

Hototin accepts payments made through Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and PayPal.

What We Found About hototin.com!

Following the coronavirus outbreak, people have, due to the lockdown in cities, resorted to online stores for most things they need to buy. Fraudsters have taken to this opportunity to open up fraudulent websites where they steal money from unsuspecting buyers. We have taken the responsibility to carry out reviews on sites like Hototin and expose their fraudulent schemes.

From reports found on the internet, no positive reviews have been made on hototin.com. Usually, authentic positive reviews are a sign that an online store is reliable. Hototin.com, after passing through a series of tests, shows it is less than six months old and, therefore, should not be trusted.

Their website uses https security – this means that information like passwords and credit card numbers, when sent to their site, is kept private. But this is not an assurance that the people behind the platform won’t tamper with your details.

The other things which we found out about Hototin which made us believe hototin.com is a fake online store are:

Reachability

They have no social media presence. Trustworthy stores use social media as a means to advertise their wares and also connect to their customers. They even listen to and resolve customers’ complaints through their social media handles.

The contact information provided on their website is not reliable: customers complained of receiving no response.

Due to the anonymity of the owners of the store, there is zero accountability, and no one to charge should you be scammed. The absence of a real face to account for the operations of the store is a big red flag.

Reviews

The products sampled on hototin.com carry fake customer reviews, all 5 stars. Reliable online stores like Amazon usually carry mixed customer reviews, both positive and negative, on the products sampled on their store.

When we scanned their site on ScamDoc (a website analysis platform), it returned a very bad trust score of 1%. This means that their site can’t be trusted because no identifying information of the owner is tied to the domain name. And since their creation date is very recent, there is no past timeline through which we can measure their authenticity.

Verdict!

Hototin.com, like Likeuhome, is an untrustworthy online store, and, therefore, not recommended for use. If you shop from them, you stand the risk of losing your money but getting no product in return. Protect yourself from swindlers.

There are many untrustworthy online stores on the internet promising to sell top-notch products but at heavily discounted rates.

It is common to come across these e-commerce stores offering good looking products at appetizing prices. But, in the end, such stores usually turn out to be fraudulent.

Most people attracted by these “too good to be true” prices from these online stores have bought goods of their liking but received something different from what they had ordered, and of poor quality.

Worse, some have placed orders with full payment yet received nothing but silence from the online vendors. You do not have to become one of them to learn from their experience.

It is unfair to fall victim to these fraudsters and lose the money you earned from honest work. Fact-checking should be a priority before you buy anything from an online vendor.

If you’ve shopped from this store, or attempted to do so, kindly share your experience with us in the comment section.

  1. Information from the contact page, indicates Hototin.com is most likely a Scamming website

    1) The contact address indicates 486 Sabattus st, Oreilly, Derry, New Hampshire, 3038 United States,
There is no Sabattus st., in Derry, New Hampshire. and Second there are no 4 digit zip codes in the United States.

    2) The contact phone number indicates Area Code (216) which is the area code for Cleveland Ohio,
The area code for Derry is not 216

    1. I found an O’Reilly auto parts store at a nearby Sabattus St address and the zip code was similar with an added zero (03038). Emails to the support address come back undeliverable. I initiated a dispute with paypal about my purchase ( never got an acknowledgement with order number or tracking information) and when they contacted the address used for payment, they were given two different UPS tracking numbers, both of which were ” lost”. I wrote to the address they use for payment ( [email protected]) several times and never received a reply. I have initiated investigations with UPS as well as paypal but have come to the conclusion that this is a scam and I may never see my money again.

  2. There is another website just like this one ONYOKY.COM that does the same thing; be CAREFUL! PAYPAL will help you get your money if you use them, but it will take you months but have your PROOF of purchase and make sure you attempt your contact!

  3. fell for it(!) hototin.com vendor was [email protected]
, appeared on statement as PAYPAL *FENGANYE750
they need to get flagged as much as possible so Paypal and Visa give notifications of suspicious purchase before hitting customers can “Pay Now”

    1. Same issue here. My item was sent via USPS last week on the 4th, good luck with that !. I call my bank to dispute the charge of $99.00, Cross fingers.

  4. I got scammed by hototin. I purchased a turntable and did not get it. They send out a package to the same town as you and used the same tracking # on your order. The other order gets delivered and tracking # on your order shows it was delivered but it was not even sent out.

  5. I have been scammed by Hototin.com. I attempted to purchase a NCE DCC Controller for model railroading through them at a cost of $88. They provided a USPS tracking number which eventually reported it delivered to my porch which was odd as the US Postal Service always delivers small parcels to a parcel delivery box at our mailbox location. I was home and our front door was open to the screen door in my sight. Nothing was delivered. However in my development, all of our houses have the same street number with different Unit numbers and three families share my same last name and we often get each others’ mail.

The next day, for the first day in over a decade of using PayPal, I was contacted by PayPal inquiring if I had received that order or not. I was waiting to connect with the last same last name family to see if they had by chance received my Hototin shipment. It turned out they had not.

I sent email to the [email protected] (yes, misspelled, that’s the way they spelled it) and inquired about the shipment. I also warned them I would open a dispute with PayPal if I did not hear from them. The next day I copied that same letter to their apparent Russian payment agent at mail.ru… The Hototin.com email came back as undeliverable. During that time I was attempting to call Joseph at Hototin customer service and kept getting a busy signal, no matter what time of day I called. I received no reply from the Russian payment Agent address supplied by PayPal so I opened a dispute with PayPal. PayPal responded they had received a response from the agent which comprised just the USPS tracking information showing I had received it on my porch.

in the meantime I noticed that the Hototin street address was impossible. It seems to exist in to countries at the same time, the US and Derry with part of the address in a Irish format and a US form, with a 4 digit Zip code, and “Derry” a county in Ireland.

I responded to PayPal notice they’d received the Agent’s sending of the USPS info, which PayPal already had since it was available on their site, linked to the transaction, by including the bounced email, perpetual busy phone, and bogus physical address, and total non-responsiveness of the seller to me as evidence of FRAUD. It remains with PayPal to make their decision.

    1. I had the same problem with this website. I filed a complaint with pay pal and they said they got a response from the seller and have proof from ups that it was delivered. I know it wasn’t delivered because I have a porch camera. Pay pal wouldn’t let me appeal, so I contacted them through messaging and have not gotten a response. UPS website does say it was delivered. How do they get away with showing a tracking number and a delivery when it never was! I am still trying to get a response from ups.

  6. I lost 99 dollars with a press of the button on this site. When PayPal issued the reciept the seller showed up in Japaneese or Chineese symbols. Never got a confirmation..the phone number gives a few bust signals and goes dead. I have filed a case with PayPal and maybe Ill get my money back and maybe I wont but at least they will be shut down on PayPal. If you want to give away money give it to charity.

    1. They were not shut down yet on PayPal. I just got scammed as-well for $63. Instead of my order, they sent a small blue envelope (which I won’t open). My credit card company is disputing the charge, but I want to hurt these people. I contacted the justice department and reported the web site. Not sure what else I can do. PayPal’s complaint system is worthless and I won’t ever trust PayPal again. PayPal is enabling these scams.

  7. Re: Hototin.com

So far it looks like PayPal has refunded me. They initially denied the dispute because it was not a “billing issue” which seemed to be the most appropriate reason on the menu, They don’t even have a selection for fraud. ….I discovered that Hototin was not legit, a few hours after placing my order, and immediately attempted to stop the transaction from processing. Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way.

I got the denial notification this morning, and was not able to act further on the original dispute. Forty five minutes later I finally found a phone number where I could call and actually talk to a real person at PayPal. You need a one time passcode to get through, which was generated in the link I clicked for the phone number. I explained my situation, and the rep put me on hold. I got cut off before the rep could get back to me, but according to the RECENT ACTIVITY, it looks like it was refunded.

If I hadn’t gotten satisfaction from PayPal, I was going to see about filing a claim of POSTAL FRAUD with the United States Post Office. What these scammers do, is send an inexpensive item to your zip code, (but not to your address) and get tracking on the item. When PayPal reviews the dispute, the seller has delivery confirmation, and the case is denied that way. I don’t know if the USPS tracking info has the weight of the item on it (on their records), but in my case that would surely make it obvious that the item was not delivered, since it weighed over 100 pounds.

Another thing to keep in mind, is that even if PayPal is set up to take the money out of your bank account, it goes onto the backup credit/debit card associated with that bank account. At least that’s the case with my bank. When I called my bank, to try to stop the transaction, they said to wait for PayPal to deny it, and then file a claim with the credit card people.

I think PayPal makes their resolution process so difficult that most people just give up. Their automated menus are totally useless in my opinion.

Re: Help! PayPal Web Payment to scammer on non-PayPal Credit Card

I made purchase a few weeks ago, on a website. I didn’t use my PayPal funds or a PayPal credit card. The website had a PayPal payment method that allowed me to use a U.S. Bank credit card (non-PayPal card). I hope that makes sense.

The scammer never responded to email requests or telephone calls, and never sent the product. My Credit Card company is disputing the charge, but I want to have PayPal also investigated and get this clown’s account shut down, before he\she scams other people. (I assume I’m not the first sucker.)

      PayPal User: [email protected]
PayPal only seems interested in transactions that PayPal funds are used in, but this transaction was still through PayPal. PayPal may never be aware of this account scamming people.

How can I get this PayPal account investigated by PayPal when there is no PayPal funded transaction?

How can I report a fraudulent web site?

It is a phishing website that accepts orders that takes the customers money but instead ships an envelope with nothing in it. (https:/www.hototin.com)

I’d like to get it shut down, and avoid them defrauding others.

I’m also very disgusted with the PayPal “automated” complaint system. It is impossible to navigate and designed (like the scammer website) to avoid any contact with live people. As far as I’m concerned, PayPal is complicit in these scams and should be prosecuted for enabling them, but having zero oversight of how their customer accounts are used.
