What Is USPS Text Scam

People have been receiving texts informing them of a failed delivery. How It Works

The USPS scam text informs the reader that their delivery failed and they would be required to fill in their information afresh, as a way to process redelivery. Their aim is to pretend they want to help you resolve the problem; so, after collecting your personal information, they would ask for a small processing fee.

In the course of paying this fee, you would input your credit card details into their system, handing them the information they need to steal money from your card. Doing this will be giving up your credit card information to thieves.

What To Do

When you receive such messages and want to be sure it is not scam, do the following:

  • send the delivery company an email to confirm the authenticity of the text
  • if the company says the message is not from them, delete the message immediately
  • do not, out of curiosity, click the link or call that number to see where it leads

Conclusion

Phishing scams are on the rise these days, and a lot of people have lost sensitive information to hackers. United State Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) has released a statement addressing this problem. Please stay away from strange texts prompting you to give up your personal information.

We have come across scams like this a lot. What you have to do firstly is not to click on links you do not understand or call strange numbers, and always be sure the source of the message is genuine before you engage.
