Did you receive a text from +1 888-602-5221 telling you that you paid for an LG Air Purifier? Do not engage. It is a scam text!

What Is LG Purifier Text Scam?

People have been receiving text messages from a strange number claiming to be from LG. The message reads:

Do You Know You Could Get Back Your Money If You Have Been Scammed?   Great News! Click HERE to Get Started

Order Confirmed: You paid $3338.99 against LG Air Purifier Bacteria buster order id 42721LAPB on 04-27-2021. If Not, Call Now +1-888-602-5221

But this is a scam text we have seen countless times, and we know how it works.

How It Works

The LG Air Purifier text informs the receiver of a payment confirmation for an air purifier. Their aim is to make you panic, thinking someone has placed an order using your card. This would then make you call the number in the message to be sure of what is going on. But calling +1-888-602-5221 is a mistake you do not want to make!

In the course of speaking with these scammers, they would pretend to help you reverse the payment. But to do that, they would ask for your personal information, which may include your credit card details. Doing this will be giving up your credit card information to thieves.

What To Do

When you receive such messages and want to be sure it is not scam, do the following:

  • send the organisation an email to confirm the authenticity of the text
  • if the organisation says the message is not from them, delete the message immediately
  • do not, out of curiosity, click the link or call that number to see where it leads

Conclusion

Phishing scams are on the rise these days, and a lot of people have lost sensitive information to hackers

We have come across scams like this a lot. What you have to do firstly is not to click on links you do not understand or call strange numbers, and always be sure the source of the message is genuine before you engage.
